Hello F-list! I've missed you all terribly :( If you haven't noticed, I've been away from LJ for a while.
First, I want to thank you all for your patience and understanding. And thanks to ALL of you who expressed your sympathies on my last post and to those of you who sent me V-gifts. I truly appreciate it.
You all are the best!So where have I been? Well I'll break it down for you just in case you give a rat's a**. LOL.
1.) I got a part time job after Riley started school that was just supposed to be until Christmas. Well, I like the job and the people so I stayed.
Unfortunately, they like me, too, so I've been working 4 or 5 days a week instead of the 2 or 3 I originally wanted. I only work from 8 or 9am until 2pm M-F though, so I can still pick Riley up from school.
2.) My daughter, Riley, who had been the picture of good health until September of last year when she contracted H1N1 and subsequently pneumonia, followed by a severe allergic reaction to the antibiotics they gave her, has had one health problem after another. The doctor warned me that the virus/pneumonia would weaken her lungs and immune system, but man, I had know idea. Before then, she'd never even been to the doctor other than well-child visits. She's been five times this year alone, the last one being today when I had to hold her down, while she screamed bloody murder, so she could get her blood drawn. The third week of April, she almost went into anaphylactic shock - swollen hands, feet and neck, trouble breathing, red skin from head to toe. The doctors seem to think she is allergic to chocolate (which has been devastating for her). We're now one of those families who have to carry around an epi-pen wherever we go : ( We'll find out for sure later this week. If she's not, she'll have to go through more rigorous testing. Those of you who are mother's can understand my constant emotional turmoil at having to watch your child go through this.
3. Of course there was the great Nashville flood. I had to watch so many of my friends and neighbors lose so much. I have spent many days trying to do what I can for them. It's a huge priority for me right now.
4. Last but not least - the other, normal RL stuff: spring cleaning, yard sale, volunteering at school and church, soccer games/practices, normal mom/wife/daughter stuff, etc. I know you all are right there with me : )
So that's where I've been. I hope I don't sound too whiney, LOL. I apologize for not commenting on your posts. If there is anything important that I missed or anything you'd like to me to see, PLEASE link me... I don't want to miss it!
Also, I am going to spend the next week catching up on replying to comments on my fics and commenting on yours! I know I've missed a bunch.
Lastly, I'm going to make a new commitment to unfinished fics. In fact, I've been thinking about "Fractured Dreams" a lot lately, and due to a well timed review on FF.net, I actually got it out, dusted it off, and wrote on it. It felt good to get back to it. I feel like I have a fresh mind and a renewed vigor. Hopefully that'll translate into crossing some of my fics over into the completed column.
